There are a lot of mobile phone retailers currently offering 12 month free line rental deals on a range of their handsets. With these deals it is possible to get a free mobile phone, free calls and free messages! The obvious question here is how do they do it, how can anyone give away a free phone deal and stay in business? Well the first thing to check is how many minutes you need per month, if you do not get enough on your initial contract you may end up paying the difference. More importantly, you need to understand that you do not get given the phone for free up front, you have to pay your bill first, and then, you have to claim a refund. So, for a time you are out of pocket. Worse still, these companies do not make it easy for you to claim your refund, deliberately putting obstacles in your path. However, I have looked at a few of these deals and it is possible to get your refund as long as you are organised. You have to make claims for your refund on different specified dates, so, write these down in your diary / calendar so you do not forget. Some of these companies insist you provide coupons, vouchers or your bill payments, so, make sure you keep all documentation. In short, just read the small print and make sure you follow it to the letter! If you do that then you can actually run a mobile phone completely free of charge for 12 months.
