How To Ensure Correct White Balance

Even if you have a perfect shot setup with the right framing and a great subject, you can still ruin the entire shot if you don’t know how to set white balance.  Having the wrong white balance can make your pictures look dull, washed out, or just plain wrong.  Fortunately, if you have a digital camera, this isn’t as much of a problem as it is with a film camera since most digital cameras today have an “auto white balance” feature.  It’s similar to auto focus or any of the other myriad of “auto” functions included on cameras these days in that your camera is smart enough to know what white is.  However, cameras aren’t always right, so it pays to learn how to set your camera’s white balance if necessary.
