I really like to watch that weight loss show on television. It is so inspiring. I think I cry every single week. There’s just something about seeing people struggle and accomplish a goal that makes you want to get up and do it, too. I know that it did for me. I just started on medifast and have been walking in my neighborhood every morning to get in a bit more exercise. I’m pretty sure I’m not going to be dropping double digits in a week or anything, but I am making slow, but steady progress. I have been really pleased with the results.

Every program on the market today to lose weight is not created equal. That being true, then the nutrisystem vs medifast debate is clearly important. There are times when I’ve struggled to figure out which one I may like better, and I like Nutrisystem more I think. Everyone will have a choice, but the Medifast diet seems more limited to me than the other one. I like both in a way that it makes things simple. They tell you what to eat, and you eat it. It’s already prepared, or your prep work is very minimal, which is important when you are busy or hungry.

It makes me sound old. Today I’m 52 years old, the age where my metabolism is slowing down and my appetite is still intact. All my garments were too tight on me and emotionally I felt ugly and fat. I made a decision one morning that enough was enough and took control of my life again. This was to stop the cycle of feeling ugly and fat. As I think that this is a big part of weight gain too. I think it’s important to understand the concept of water weight loss, as opposed to fat weight loss. As you may or may not already know; these are two different things completely. Some of these pull oodles of water off of your body, hence creating the illusion that you’ve actually gotten thinner. However, all the excess body fat is still there. I noticed my daughter skipped meals more than usual and spent a lot of time exercising, but I thought it was because she was concerned about fitting into her prom gown. The prom came and went and she continued to lose weight. When I tried to talk to her about this she became defensive and accused me of wanting her to be fat. I became concerned about her and did some Internet research about Eating Disorders. The situation deteriorated when I discovered she was taking diet pills and using laxatives to promote weight loss. She was wearing baggy sweats and t-shirts to conceal just how thin she had become. One morning I accidentally walked in on her when she was getting out of the shower. I was horrified to see how emaciated she was. Her hip bones stuck out and I could count her ribs. Despite her protests I made an appointment with our family doctor to find out what could be done to help her.

Now that I have made the commitment to stick to a diet, I like having other people to look to for advice and tips. None of my friends are currently dieting, so I started looking online for different blogs and articles relating to weight loss. I started reading Gwens Diet Blog, and it has given me many useful tips and ideas, and it’s also been a good support tool as I try to stick to my plan. So far I’ve lost nearly thirty pounds, and I’m almost halfway to my goal weight. I plan on taking a vacation to celebrate as soon as I reach my goal.
