I have been suffering from panic attacks for round 4 years. It is really hindering my normal life. I wish there are quick cures for panic attacks. That period when it all started was really stressful for me. My favorite aunt had died and my husband was fired from his work. I was only the sole breadwinner for my family. I was in my vice president office trying to present him the annual report of the company. Halfway while presenting the report, my legs suddenly felt like jelly. I could feel my whole body shaking with fear. My breathing became fast and quick. All I was thinking at that moment was just to run away. Although my first attack was mild, my other panic attacks were not.

I’ve heard it said that there are different degrees of panic attacks. In the most extreme cases, people actually feel like they may be dying. They can’t breathe, the room starts spinning, and they may even lose consciousness. I never knew that they were that serious. I guess if I suffered from panic attacks that were truly debilitating, I would immediately find the very best anxiety therapy I could and put it to practice right away. No one should ever suffer from a disease that makes her own mind attack you. That must be the worst feeling in the world.

Suffering with panic attacks had kept me a prisoner in my own home for years. I couldn’t go out with my wife, or attend school functions for my kids. Never knowing when an attack might hit was just too big of a risk. My wife tried to be patient, but it was taking a toll on all of us. She was the one who determined to find a solution. Her quest led us to www.treatment-for-anxiety.org. The treatments presented on this site have been a godsend. The relaxation therapies are something we can do together, and the herbal medications are better than any prescription I’ve ever tried. We have our lives back and are so grateful!

I recently was diagnosed as having a panic attack disorder brought on by OCD. This is nothing I can control, it is just a byproduct of the horrible illness I have suffered for a very long time. I take medication for my OCD but this does not offer any added benefit of helping to ease my panic attacks. So I have been going to psychotherapy and amongst the panic attack treatments I have been given, one simple technique that I have been taught is how to breath properly. I never knew such a small change, such as breathing deeper and slower, could have such an immediate impact on helping to ease anxiety.

A panic attack is an example of one’s body doing what it was designed to do, yet, at an inappropriate time. The antidepressants most used to treat panic attacks are the popular selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), such as fluoxetine (Prozac), sertraline (Zoloft), paroxetine (Paxil) and citalopram (Celexa). Situational panic attacks are indicative of social and specific phobias. Anxiety disorders and panic attacks are not caused by chemical imbalances. This startling data means that anxiety attacks and panic attacks are the most common emotional disorders and are more common than

I get panic attacks while driving. They are most common at night and when I am alone in the car. When they set in it is a terrifying situation. I have sudden, irrational thoughts that totally take me out of the ‘driving zone’. I have found a couple of solutions that were mentioned on Panic Attack Help Guide that really do help but they aren’t a complete resolution to the panic attacks that I have. 1) is to pull over and have a chat with my wife or children on the phone, this is great and really relaxes me to get back on the road, especially if I’m on the way back home to them, 2) is to make sure I have somebody else at the side of me during these trips, OK so it isn’t always possible but when somebody is there it is an ear to bend, a voice to listen to. It really does help.

Studies on panic attacks show them to be the most common emotion disorder. This means they are more common than Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Manic Depression (or Bipolar), Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, alcohol abuse, and depression, to name a few. It is estimated that 1/3 of Americans will suffer at least one panic attack in any given year. The good news is that most people don’t suffer from repeat attacks, but the sad news is that most people who do suffer from panic attacks don’t seek help or a panic attack cure. This disorder actually has the lowest rates of all the above listed emotional disorders for people seeking and finding help. A panic attack is described as severe anxiety, or intense and extreme fear which may not appear to have a direct cause. It can last for just a few minutes in most cases, but in extreme cases, it can last for hours.
