A great time for all at the course

December 20th, 2008 . by admin

I love having a good time with friends.  Especially if having a good time involves hitting the golf ball around the driving rage a time or two.  Over the years I have used the driving range as a healthy way to take out my aggression.  My psychiatrist told me about this as an option and it has been an amazing relief of stress.  I even started using a golf affiliate program that has really helped me perfect my golf swing.  So now I not only have a way to get my aggression out healthy, but I have a sport to enjoy.

Overeating This Holiday Season

December 7th, 2008 . by admin

When there is so much wonderful food available, it can be hard to maintain your willpower during the Christmas season. Depriving yourself isn’t the answer either. It will just make you want it all the more. If you have children, try splitting that cookie with them and only eating half of it. As a matter of fact, everything you try, only eat half, and give the other half to someone else. You’ll still get a taste without blowing your calorie intake for the day. To make up for the rich food you may be eating, try remaining more active than usual. You should also try consider taking one of the best weight loss pills you can find.  Instead of sitting around eating, walk around the room mingling and talking with others. You’ll burn more calories and have a great time without constantly thinking about food.

Heading to the Summit

September 3rd, 2008 . by admin

When the group of us first set out, I wondered if I had brought the right gear for this kind of hike. We were getting ready to hike Mt. Kitahdin, and it is a bit of a climb. The northeast is known for it’s cold nights, so I brought a warm sleeping bag. There were other sleeping bags to choose from, but I knew that at the end of a long hike, I would want to be warm. My friends seemed to agree as they all brought similar bags. I ended up being fine, and they all agreed that it was a great time

Located on 200 acres of beautiful, it is one of the most famous and respected zoos in the United States. More than 300 different species and 2500 animals reside at the zoo and have been entertaining vacationers and locals for more than 100 years. You can see reptiles, such as pythons, cobras, turtles, and rattlesnakes, and fish such as the fearsome piranha in the Aquatic and Reptile section. Many of the large mammals are the main attractions, however. You can find lions, tigers, elephants, wolves, bears, and more at the zoo. One of the recent additions is the Stingray and Shark Reef, where you can see, touch, and even feed a variety of rays and harmless sharks, like the bamboo shark and the nurse shark. Make sure you schedule some time to see a few of the animal shows as well. The Seal and Sea Lion Show, and the Birds of Prey show are both fun and educational. The whole family is certain to have a great time exploring the zoo’s offerings.

Internships aren’t just for the summer!

April 19th, 2008 . by admin

Many college students look for internships during the summer, but they are also available during the year. Many companies are willing to have part time interns during the school year, and competition for these positions may be less than for positions during the summer, as many think of internships as just a summer thing. If you can handle the time commitment, it is a great opportunity to fit in more internships throughout your college career, and thus gain more experience. Of course summer allows you to have the full time work experience, so it is also a great time to do internships.

New England Clambake Fun

March 3rd, 2008 . by admin

Nothing brings in the Spring like a New England Clambake.  If you go back in history, you will find that native American Indians would partake in a traditional new england clambake on a regular basis.

When the Spring season arrived it was definitely a great time to prepare a clambake.  Typically clambakes are prepared on the beach and are cooked in a pit, lined with hot stones and seaweed.

The stones would be heated in a fire and then placed in the pit, then the ingredients for the clambake would join the hot stones, separated by a layer of seaweed.  The seaweed helped buffer the seafood from the hot rocks and also added moisture to the meal.

Buillding Your Child’s Self-Confidence

February 23rd, 2008 . by admin

Some children are naturally slower than others to warm to people. Still, they can usually learn to overcome their fears and become less anxious. You have to take one step at a time, starting from where they are, and building on each success.

Look for things he likes to do and is good at. This will build self- confidence. He will also have more things to talk about. If you can find things for him to do, involving others, better still. Don’t force him to do anything, but also don’t make it easy for him to get out of it. A lot of time children will say they don’t want to do something, even when they know inside that they’ll have a great time.

Don’t ever call him "shy". It will just reinforce his own belief about himself, and never change. It could even become an excuse as to why he can’t do things. Focus on his strong qualities such as gentleness, kindness, and being polite.

It will take a while, but if you keep being positive with him, he will come out of his shell.
