My husband and I have always been very involved in our children’s education and spend a lot of time helping them with their studies.  I think teachers are doing the best they can and parents need to be ready to pick up the slack if necessary.  Since every child is different, parents should be responsible for accessing their children’s needs and take whatever measures are appropriate to help them.  For example, when our daughter started having a lot of trouble with 8th grade math, we looked around and found a resource that provides math worksheets grade 8 that are helping immensely.  There are so many resources available these days to help children exceed.
