Once upon a time, there was a beautiful young princess, who met and married a beautiful young prince.  A lot has happened since then, a lot of time has passed, and somewhere along the way the beautiful young princess has become a somewhat less beautiful but still very much graceful older widow, because the prince suddenly and unexpectedly died.  This was a great tragedy for the widow, because she never knew adult life without her prince, and since it all happened so suddenly, she wouldn’t be able to afford their flat anymore!  Thankfully, a white knight in shining armour did not appear and this tale is getting ridiculous.  Every year, hundreds of widows are only able to avoid getting into debt after their loved one dies because of bereavement benefits, a social security benefit for those whose spouse recently passed away.  Enquire at your nearest Jobcentre Plus office
