March 19th, 2008 . by admin

The Scramble for Africa was when a number of European powers rushed towards Africa, or ‘Scrambled’ to gain extra colonies in Africa. The Scramble for Africa was one of the major reasons for the First World War which was fought from 1914-1918 A.D. Many European nations wanted to have their Empires. Between 1870 and 1914 much of Africa continent was occupied by European countries. This led to several arguments between the European nations. For example the Germans and French argued about Morocco in 1906 and 1911. There are a lot of reasons for the outbreak of the First World War.
