The practice of feeding infants or even a young child with breast milk from woman?s breasts directly is called breastfeeding. Analyzing on which are the healthiest forms of intake for infants and new born babies, human breast milk undoubtedly is the best and the most recommended. Human breast milk can be administered to infants for at least a period of six months, which can even be extended if there is no addition of artificial formula or solid food.

Breastfeeding a child is very important but care must be taken to ensure that the mother is free of infections like HIV or tuberculosis and is not under drugs. The death tolls of the infants are rising in developing and developed countries due to resorting to artificial feeding of the infants. There can never be a better substitute to breastfeeding, which promotes good health, prevents diseases and also cuts down on the feeding costs.
