Milwaukee Area County Zoo
August 6th, 2008 . by adminAnyone who is visiting the Milwaukee area will find many great things to see and do, but one place that can’t be missed is the Milwaukee County Zoo. Located on 200 acres of beautiful, it is one of the most famous and respected zoos in the United States. More than 300 different species and 2500 animals reside at the zoo and have been entertaining vacationers and locals for more than 100 years. You can see reptiles, such as pythons, cobras, turtles, and rattlesnakes, and fish such as the fearsome piranha in the Aquatic and Reptile section. Many of the large mammals are the main attractions, however. You can find lions, tigers, elephants, wolves, bears, and more at the zoo. One of the recent additions is the Stingray and Shark Reef, where you can see, touch, and even feed a variety of rays and harmless sharks, like the bamboo shark and the nurse shark. Make sure you schedule some time to see a few of the animal shows as well. The Seal and Sea Lion Show, and the Birds of Prey show are both fun and educational. The whole family is certain to have a great time exploring the zoo’s offerings.
