Fiber Is Essential Following A Gastric Bypass
September 6th, 2008 . by adminIf you are considering having a gastric bypass then one thing you need to know is that, following surgery, fiber will become an essential part of your diet. Many foods, such as raw vegetable, dried beans and bran are high in fiber but can cause problems as it is very easy for them to get stuck your stomach or to obstruct the opening from the stomach into the small intestine. For this reason, high fiber foods will need to be prepared carefully and eaten in only small quantities, allowing any high fiber foods to be digested before further high fiber foods are eaten. Fiber can also be taken in pill form and laxatives can be used to help to aid digestion but this is something which you should not try without first talking to your doctor.
