Vaginal odor and discharge that tend to be fishy smelling, are generally caused by bacterial vaginosis, also known by the acronym BV.

Vaginosis refers to an infection of the vagina that’s caused by an imbalance in the bacteria usually found in the vagina.  In more specific terms, its the lack of normally present lactobacilli .Normal Lactobacillus bacteria in the vaginal area get replaced with high levels of other strains like Gardnerella vaginalis and Mycoplasma hominis.

We still don’t fully understand the cause of this bacterial imbalance. BV can happen to  women who douche regularly or have illnesses that reduce the usual amount of lactobacilli. Common situations that could reduce lactobacilli include using antibiotics, the ingredients in douches and other feminine-hygiene products. Femanol for BV  won’t let your vaginal odor get unrestrained. Find medical advice if you have or think you may have vaginosis.
