Alcoholic Intervention

April 15th, 2009 . by admin

If you want to try to help someone who is struggling with alcoholism, then you might consider doing an intervention.  This is where you gather up all of the friends and family members of the struggling alcoholic and confront the person together and try to convince them to get help for their problem.

An alcoholic intervention is a calculated risk.  If it works, the person will agree to get help and probably take some action, such as counseling or inpatient treatment.  But if it backfires, it may create more resentment and isolation then what was previously experienced.  If this is the case then the intervention could actually make things worse in some cases.
