Luke had a habit of falling asleep after drinking for about four or five hours.  One night Luke and his buddies met a group of girls and Luke’s buddies were affectionately using Luke as the straw man to make the young ladies laugh.  The point was that Luck was such a light weight that someone needed to drive him home and put him to bed. 

Everyone was laughing like crazy and then one girl said the following “Hey guys, your story was really funny but I need to point out one thing.  People who fall asleep when they drink are not always doing so because they are tired.  Sometimes when people drink much more than their body can process, their body starts to shut down.  The result is alcohol poisoning.  And when a person exhibits signs of alcohol poisoning, one of which is passing out, the goal is to keep him awake and get him immediate medical attention.   In other words, when someone is experiencing alcohol poisoning you don’t let him sleep, you call 911 for medical help.”From that day forward, whenever Luke wanted to fall asleep after drinking, his buddies made sure he stayed awake and was not feeling ill or was not drunk before letting him drive home.
