It comprises of different component branches such as US Army, US Marine Corps, US Navy, US Air Force, US Coast Guard and US National Guard. These branches are all part of the United States Uniformed services and are under the civilian control of the current president that serves as their Commander-in-Chief.
The number of US Air Force dominates the US Military with more than 37% of its total personnel. Next in line are the US Navy with 24% and US Air Force with 23%. The Marine Corps and Coast Guards complete the list with 13% and 3% of population respectively.
