Sodium Bicarbonate Has Many Uses in the Home
November 30th, 2009 . by adminBefore the manufacture of over the counter and prescription remedies, Sodium Bicarbonate was the primary source of relief from indigestion and heart burn. This common substance, mixed with a glass of water, was successfully used as a home remedy long before anyone ever heard of Prilosec, Pepcid, Tums, and Zantac. In addition to its medicinal use, a paste made from Sodium Bicarbonate and water applied to the skin relieves the itching of insect bites and rashes. This was a favorite of my grandmother’s, and I can tell you from personal use that it really works. Place a box of Sodium Bicarbonate in your refrigerator to keep it smelling sweet. And everyone knows that Sodium Bicarbonate is used as a leavening agent for baking. It is amazing to think of all the uses for this one substance.
