A wonderful act was developed in 1996 that is intended to protect the rights of property owners.  When a dispute arose between my family and our neighbors, we were very thankful that the Party Wall Act existed.  Our neighbor were expecting to tear down part of our adjoining wall which would have made numerous repairs necessary on our part.  We could not afford the work at that time.  A reasonable compromise could not be made and so we each hired our own surveyors.  The professionals worked together and developed a plan that worked for us all.  We would never have come to such a speedy agreement on our own.
