The flashing blue lights of the police car drowned out the rest of the world.  Jack began to panic. He pulled over into the side of the road. The police car stopped behind and a blonde headed police woman stepped out. Tapping on the glass of the driver’s window the police officer stood waiting. Jack took a deep breath and rolled down the window. As the conversation unfolded Jack felt the relief wash over his entire body. Jack’s tax disk had dropped off of the windscreen, luckily it was still in date, but only just. The police officer handed over a note simply saying ‘renew car tax’. Jack showed his appreciation, thanked her, and then drove away into the night. It was a close call for him, had she checked the trunk she would have found the body.
